Overview

Grama Abhyudaya Society For Integrated Rural Development (GRISD) works with the vision of promoting health, education, livelihood strategies, local governance and management of natural resources among the Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes, Muslims/Christian minorities and other socially backward sections of the society.

GRISD has implemented various programmes including programmes on Mid-day Meals, Rural Health, Housing and Sanitation Awareness, Women Empowerment, Children Welfare Awareness, Identification of Child Labourers and Reformation, Natural Resource Development, Pulse Polio Immunization & Promotion Of Family Planning Systems, Vocational Training and Computer Technical Skill Development Training.

The vision is to enable these socially, economically and educationally backward communities to become self-reliant by providing them assistance and training for occupational mobility as well as resource management to help alleviate poverty.

A special focus of GRISD is to facilitate sustainable agriculture through innovative organic farming practices among these communities, so that a self supporting ecosystem is built at the grass root level.

Key achievements of the organisation have been the implementation of watershed development programmes in Ananthapumaru and Vajrakarur Mandal, Ananthapumaru district, construction of 60 houses and 60 sanitary latrines for BPL families in Ananthapumaru and Kurnool districts under CAPART assistance, running ST residential school at Uravakonda, Ananthapumaru, taking up Forest Reformation programmes under NAEB, forming and promoting 95 self help groups with women under GBC assistance, running of RBC for dropout school children in Ananthapumaru, and running capacity building, water conservation and management systems in river basin systems.
