Overview

Lupin Human Welfare And Research Foundation works in collaboration with corporate houses, government departments, professionals and international organisations to create livelihood and employment opportunities in the rural areas. It also provides for basic infrastructure with an aim to empower marginalised communities.

The economic objective of the foundation is to create employment options particularly for unemployed youth and women. Also, It strengthens primary occupations like agriculture and animal husbandry through increased output and value addition. It further aims to improve secondary occupations such as cottage industry, handicrafts and service sector through quality enhancement and wider market acceptability.

The social objective is to develop proper social, cultural, scientific and spiritual awareness amongst rural community with an understanding to work for their own development and take steps in that direction. In addition to this, the foundation provides for basic infrastructure facilities such as provision for drinking water, building internal roads, basic sanitation, formal education, community centres, electrification, training and skill development centres.

The foundation's initiatives include Umbrella Programme on Natural Resource Management which is in collaboration with NABARD and German Development Corporation (GDC) which provides for financial instruments for improving the livelihoods of the rural population through sustainable natural resource management.

The project Tribal Development Fund in collaboration with NABARD is aimed to promote sustainable participatory livelihood program which focuses on economic upliftment through sustainable agriculture, social empowerment, improvement in quality of life including health and women development in tribal areas. It further provides for capacity building, exposure visits, training and sensitisation programs for the benefit of communities, NGOs, self help groups, panchayats and government departments.

Further, the National Watershed Development Fund aims to bring under a single roof the multiplicity of watershed development program through involvement of village level institutions and NGOs. It also supports the financing and implementation of watershed projects through the state governments on loan basis.

Additionally, the Better Cotton Initiative involves training and capacity building of farmers for sustainable cotton production by introducing practices on integrated pest management, integrated nutrient management, and selection of variety by conducting training and demonstrations at village level.
