Enactus IITD is a chapter of Enactus, a community of student, academic and business leaders working for social causes worldwide. Encatus IITD supports Read more students for creating projects which are novel, practical, durable and affordable with direct impact on people in need. Students work in teams and acquire skills and knowledge to become socially responsible business leaders and build sustainable social enterprises. Project Nirmalya conducts awareness programs about waste management problems and techniques to deal with them. It creates a regular income for rag pickers by involving them in garbage collection and composting process. Project Titli focuses on manufacturing affordable and biodegradable sanitary napkins and making them easily available at doorstep. The production unit would be run by women entrepreneurs making them self reliant. For project Aanch, the ENACTUS team has designed a low cost stove based on a design by Philips. This stove optimizes fuel consumption, generates very low smoke and is 66% more efficient than traditional stoves. The women entrepreneurs can earn money through selling of these stoves. They are taught skills of business and marketing empowering them to start their own businesses. Project Arth focuses on providing solutions for air pollution and utilizing cow dung as an alternative to wood leading to financial empowerment of farmer. Some projects are in their initial stages, such as Alo, which gives school children a hands on experience to explore and understand the prospectus of various professional fields. Whereas, Food for life is a project designed to solve the food waste problems. In 2015, Enactus IITD was the winner of the National Competition and represented the country in the Enactus World Cup held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Along with winning North India Regional Champions titles in 2011 and 2012, the team had won the 'Best Rookie Team' award in 2011 and secured 3rd and 4th positions in SIFE India National Championships in 2011 1nd 2012 respectively.
