The Indian School of Development Management (ISDM) is an institution that aims to transform the development sector in India by nurturing leaders and p Read morerofessionals with the knowledge and skills to drive social change effectively. It is committed to fostering, strengthening, and establishing Development Management—an inclusive approach that surpasses conventional development perspectives and management principles. Its central objective revolves around advancing the leadership and direction of Social Purpose Organisations (SPOs) to a professional level. It acknowledges the distinct requirements of the development space, necessitating management practices customized to suit the sector's unique scale instead of simply adapting business management strategies. Through extensive field research, engagement with practitioners, and practical theorization, It strives to collaboratively build a repository of knowledge. The institution actively collaborates with organisations to underscore the significance of skilled Development Leadership and Management professionals, advocates for the introduction of Development Management programmes in various academic institutions, and endeavours to establish Development Management as an esteemed profession. By 2025, ISDM aims to be the preferred management institute for individuals aspiring to create a meaningful and transformative impact within the development sector.

Programs

  • Post Graduate Programme in Development Management (PGP-DM)

The Post-Graduate Programme in Development Management stands out as the sole 11-month programme worldwide that integrates development concepts with management theories. It combines classroom sessions, collaborative group work, and practical field experience. The programme's objective is to cultivate a group of Social Sector Professionals capable of devising interventions, as well as constructing, leading, and managing organisations to achieve sustainable and significant social impact on a large scale.

  • Research Programme

The ISDM Knowledge and Research Centre seeks to document and collaborate on direct and suggested knowledge in order to support successful Development Management practices in Social Purpose Organisations (SPOs). It recognises the minute distinction between management in the commercial domain and management in the social impact sector. Because of the complexities of development work, leaders must negotiate vagueness and discover acceptable answers, which involves a scientifically-driven and shared process of knowledge co-creation, collation, and selection. This method seeks to create a coherent and solid Body of Knowledge (BoK) on Development Management (DM) that matures, remains relevant, and is consistent with the accepted principles and universal values of social sector participation.
