Works for reducing the dependence of rural households on unclean and unreliable cooking fuels such as cow dung and firewood which emit hazardous smoke Read more and cause nearly 1 million deaths per year. The problem of high cost of installation, expensive maintenance and low yield associated with traditional bio gas fuel solutions is being solved in the form of a low cost, portable and durable system called Gau-Gas. The system generates clean cooking gas from cow dung and also ensures the usability of the by-product in the form of fertilizer. The Gau-Gas system has been adopted by two villages in India. For this initiative, they have received the Villgro EIR Cohort Award in 2013.
