Overview |
Shiksharth follows a community-led model of education, trying to find ways to incorporate the culture and customs of the tribal community into the classroom. Shiksharth's model aims to create a platform where the community can contribute to the holistic development of the child, where multilingual education is promoted and advocated, and where tribal history and culture is documented. It also works with local administrators to improve the quality of education and implementation of policies that reach rural and tribal areas through action-based research, design, and implementation Shiksharth's MLE (Multi-lingual education) and contextual pedagogy approach aims to develop learning and teaching resources which are contextual and multilingual. It has established such subject labs in mathematics, science, and language. The School Support Program uses multilingual education towards providing quality education in Sukma and also supports residential schools like Pota Cabin in standard school operations. Through its Gyanodaya project, Shiksharth supports multiple initiatives in education in Sukma. The Jigyasa initiative was formed to design and run programs to strengthen science education in Sukma, under which the following have been established: Mobile Science Van, Science Park, and general science education and training. In addition, Shiksharth supports the District Education department and Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan as a technical partner. Shiksharth's intervention "Peace Leaders Develoment–Sukma Adolescents and Youth" is an initiative which aims to develop their students into peace ambassadors in their villages who will lead their community in adopting a peaceful lifestyle in the long run. Its Rural and Tribal Education Research and Development Facility was initiated primarily to work on content, curriculum, the role of technology, 21st century learning skills, school and teacher development, and community engagement. Under its School of Nature initiative, Shiksharth works to integrate the local tribal community's customs, culture, and livelihood into the classroom. In addition, it promotes a multilingual education system. Under the guidance of the District Education Department, offline learning kits & projects were distributed in January 2021 among the children who do not get access to the virtual medium of education due to the period hit by Covid-19. |
