Major tasks and accomplishments (as reported by the NGO):
Deepak Foundation, with its multi-faceted Public Private Partnership initiative of the Safe Motherhood and Child Survival project, has successfully touched the lives of a nearly 1.9 million population in all 1548 villages of Vadodara District. Envisaging the outreach of health services to the remotest tribal areas of the District, the Foundation in a short span of time has been able to bring about reduction in Maternal Mortality Ratio from 430 to 323 per 100,000 live births, reduction in Infant Mortality Rate from 61 to 53 per 1000 live births, increase in institutional deliveries from 14 percent to 72 percentKey achievements of the project are- - Outreach to more than 150 thousand pregnant and nursing women and infants.- Provision of services to nearly 1000 patients per month through the Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric Unit at Jabugam, Taluka PaviJetpur. - Outreach to more than 60,000 pregnant and nursing mothers under the Anemia Control Program and referral of more than 300 severely anemic women to receive appropriate treatment.- Addressing more than 15000 health emergencies through its emergency transport network.- Training and employment of more than 1000 local women as Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) to provide health care services to their own communities.- Strengthening Village Health and Sanitation Committees in the district towards communization of health services.
