RSS Jankalyan Samitee Maharashtra Prant, originally formed in response to the 1972 Maharashtra drought, has since transformed into a dedicated NGO com Read moremitted to uplifting the weaker sections of society. Recognizing the temporary nature of relief efforts during disasters, it decided to convert its energy into a permanent entity for long-term social betterment. Thus, 'RSS Dushkal Nivaran Samiti' became 'RSS Jankalyan Samiti,' focusing on value-based education, health awareness, self-reliance, and disaster management. Importantly, its work extends to both rural and urban underprivileged communities, demonstrating an inclusive approach. Over the years, RSS Jankalyan Samiti has actively participated in relief operations during various natural disasters, including droughts, earthquakes, floods, typhoons, and landslides, contributing resources and volunteers selflessly. Today, it operates at the state level, serving multiple regions in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Konkan, Western Maharashtra, North Maharashtra, and Marathwada, in its mission to uplift society's vulnerable segments.

Programs

  • Education Programmes

    Jankalyan Samiti, an NGO, addresses child labour in Solapur by providing education and practical skills to 150 underprivileged children. It also empowers mothers through skill training and small-scale entrepreneurship. One girl's remarkable performance in the SSC Exam garnered support from the Lady Collector of Solapur. Sanvedana, another project, supports children with Intellectual Disability and Cerebral Palsy in Marathwada, offering tailored development plans and therapies. Jankalyan Niwasi Vidyalaya Harangul serves earthquake-affected areas, achieving a 97.14% pass rate in the 2004 SSC Exam. A mobile science laboratory promotes scientific thinking among schoolchildren in remote areas, benefitting over 25,000 students annually.

  • Sanskar Programme

    RSS Jankalyan Samitee Maharashtra Prant initiated the Bharatmata Mandir Project in response to the 1993 earthquake in Latur and Dharashiv districts. It established 12 mandirs in these villages to unite the community and promote education, health awareness, and social scheme knowledge. Activities such as ethics training sessions, bhajani mandals, and study-centre development are conducted at the village level to empower villagers, youth, and students.

    Additionally, it operates Yoga Training Centers in Parbhani to enhance health awareness in society. These centres provide certified training in yoga through affiliation with Yashwantrao Chavan Open University. Over 100 individuals have received this training and are actively spreading the benefits of yoga in society.

  • Self Reliance & Rural Development Programme

    RSS Jankalyan Samitee Maharashtra Prant aligns with Swami Vivekananda's positive ideology and strives to empower society. It achieves this by establishing Self Help Groups and Coaching centres for Stitching, fostering self-reliance.

    In the realm of agriculture, Jankalyan emphasizes organic farming and provides expert guidance to farmers in its operational areas. It also runs a Farming Equipment centre, offering these tools to farmers free of cost.

  • Purvanchal Vikas Programme

    RSS Jankalyan Samitee Maharashtra Prant extends its service to Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Nagaland in the North-East. Through the "Bharat Mata Ghar" programme, it promotes cultural unity by facilitating visits between Maharashtra and these states. Additionally, the organisation supports students from these states, offering education and accommodation in 11 hostels across various cities in Maharashtra. This initiative, operational since 1993, serves 36 girls and 100 boys, with an annual expenditure of Rs. 18,000 per student and a total annual expenditure of 25 to 30 lakhs for all hostels. A yearly three-day camp fosters cultural exchange among these students.

  • Healthcare Programme

    The organisation prioritizes healthcare through hospitals, blood banks, and community health schemes. The Dr. Prabhakar Patwardhan Memorial Hospital in Panvel provides specialized departments and diagnostic services. It manages nine recognized Blood Banks, promoting voluntary donation and implementing health programmes. The Gram Arogya Rakshak Scheme trains local volunteers to offer round-the-clock first aid and health education in remote areas, benefiting over 1,016 villages. Additionally, "Patients Equipment Centres" provide essential equipment to discharged patients for home care, demonstrating their dedication to comprehensive healthcare services.
