    1969

AFARM, an organisation operating in Maharashtra, was established to address the pressing need for a central body that could effectively coordinate NGO Read mores involved in providing drinking water and agricultural services to drought-affected villages. It envisions itself as a platform that facilitates practical and rightful development by bringing together Civil Society Organisations(CSO). Its mission is to strengthen the capacity of CSOs through Action Research, promotion, grassroots execution, support, and advisory efforts, thereby advancing effective development at both the mass and policy levels. Over 50 years, AFARM has responded to changing socio-economic needs of marginalized communities and environmental challenges in rural areas. This journey has contributed to evolution of the organization as a learning institution committed to being a platform to promote sustainable and equitable development. Land and Water Resources, Agriculture, Livelihoods and Community Institutions are main core programme areas of AFARM.

Impact

AFARM’s programmes have made an impact across 12 districts, 33 blocks, and 361 villages, collaborating with 29 project partners and positively influencing the lives of 52,819 participating households.
