  • Comprehensive Eye - Care Programme

    Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) runs a comprehensive eye care program across its 12 hospitals, offering year-round eye care services. Ophthalmic technicians and nurses manage outpatient services, and in the absence of eye surgeons, they select patients for surgery. EHA's services include screenings, medical treatments, and surgeries, with a focus on cataract surgery to prevent blindness. It conducts rural screening programmes to reach those with limited access to hospitals. EHA achieves a 98.7% rate of intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Some hospitals offer glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy screenings. It also operates optical shops to provide affordable eyeglasses to patients, reducing the need for long travels. EHA invests in equipment and diagnostic tests to enhance eye care, including disposable surgical drapes for infection control.
