Act of 1860 in 1993 and the FCR Act of 1976 in 1999. WODWICHEE is dedicated to uplifting the underprivileged sections of society, with a particular focus on women, girls, and children.Formed by a group of socially committed individuals in the Barak Valley region of Assam in 1989. WODWICHEE’s Vision is ""humanity, tolerance and social justice, where women and children and the disadvantaged grassroots population live with dignity, security and justice."" while its Mission is ""Building and enhancing core socioeconomic competencies of grassroots communities with the aim of bringing the rural poor communities especially the vulnerable sections from the margins to the mainstream of development. "

Impact

1. WODWICHEE is successfully running the SAKHI SADAN, at Hailakandi. 2.The “Sakhi” One Stop Centre (OSC) sheltering victims of domestic violence is also a successful initiative of the organisation. 3. Vatsalya Home gives protection to vulnerable children 4. The Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) is running successfully at Silchar. 5. Training centers on sanitary napkin making and tamul plate making is implemented successfully generating employment to many.

  • Mission Shakti

    Under Mission Shakti,the SAKHI SADAN, at Hailakandi is being run by WODWICHEE since 7th September, 2021 under tthe District Administration and Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam. The objectives are-
    i. provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces .
    ii. facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological and counseling support.
    Target Group-The “Sakhi” One Stop Centre (OSC) supports all women including girls below 18 years of age affected by violence. For girls below 18 years of age, institutions and authorities under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children ) Act, 2000 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 will be linked with the “Sakhi” One Stop Centre (OSC).

  • Vatsalya Bhavan Childrens Home

    WODWICHEE has been running the Children’s Home under the aegis of the State Child Protection Society, Assam since 2012. Equipped with all necessary infrastructure and accommodation facilities, it is a loving residential home, where vulnerable children are cared in a holistic family environment.

  • Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA)

    WODWICHEE is running the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) at Sonai Road, Silchar, Cachar district since 2007 with support of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts run by WODWICHEE has been a relief to many people struggling with addiction.

  • Senior Citizens Home

    The Senior Citizens' Home at Lakshirbond district Hailakandi is rendering services since 1999. The Home is housed in its permanent building. Senior citizens whose lives are affected by lack of care and protection are admitted into the Home. The beneficiaries are provided with shelter, food and nutrition, medical care, mental respite through recreation and need based counselling. Some of the beneficiaries are also restored to their families after checking out the care and protection elements available in the family. To encourage active and productive ageing, vocational trainings are provided to the beneficiaries. Elderly-friendly production activities are carried out in the Home through which the senior citizens are helped to make small earnings. This component has been found meaningful in giving the senior citizens a sense of being productive and the required confidence to lead a dignified life.

  • Mobile Medicare Unit for Senior Citizens

    The Mobile Medical Unit provides outreach medical services to the beneficiaries who can't access the existing medical services. The services are provided to the senior citizens residing in rural and remote places having poor transportation networks. The MMU team reaches to the identified locations in a specially designed van equipped with medicines, lab equipment, emergency kits etc.

  • INTEGRATED PROGRAM FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT & EMPLOYMENT GENERATION

    1. SANITARY NAPKIN TRAINING & PRODUCTION CENTRE
    WODWICHEE has established a Training and Production Centre for low cost sanitary napkins. This effort has been found to be very effective in both improving the menstrual practices among the poor girls and women and opening up an economic window for the successful trainees of the centre.
    2. ARECA NUT PLATE MAKING TRAINING AND PRODUCTION CENTRE
    WODWICHEE running a Training and Production Center for making Arecanut Plates at Lakshirbond, Hailakandi. A batch of 10 women have been trained during 2022-23.

  • Access to Justice for Children
