Major tasks and accomplishments (as reported by the NGO):
ENVIRON, a non government non-profit organization was founded in 2003 in Guwahati, Assam in India to address issues of environmental degradation caused by human activities and promote sustainable development in north eastern region of India. ENVIRON is trying to alleviate the unemployment problem of this region by promoting efficient utilization of renewable natural resources. Currently, ENVIRON is actively engaged in working out means to fight challenges of urban and rural solid & liquid waste management in India. By way of promoting source segregation of daily generated municipal waste, efficient recycling and reduction of dumping in landfill site it has been trying to ensure better social hygiene and reduced environmental degradation.Moreover, ENVIRON has invented _Waste Assimilator��_ to manage all the household generated biodegradable solid waste within the residential campus and even inside the balcony of an apartment. Thorough the invention we are now promoting organic kitchen gardening in urban dwellings by utilizing the product of household management of biodegradable domestic waste that comes out to be vermi-composted organic manure & vermiwash.
