Indian School of Democracy

She Represents is a 7-day leadership programme exclusively designed for 40 local and elected women representatives selected from across India. This is a hybrid programme- 5 days in Delhi and 2 days online. This is a unique opportunity for women leaders to develop their governance and policy analysis skills, communication and public speaking, leadership and build networks with top women leaders from across India. They will get to learn from senior political leaders, women MPs, top bureaucrats, and governance experts.

Democracy Express is an annual 10-day immersive journey to engage with principled, progressive, and unsung young leaders of Indian politics. The purpose of this journey is to change the narrative around politics, reclaim it, introduce the youth to good politics and build a community of aspiring public leaders. Participants get to build important political skills such as constituency and booth management, team building, campaign design, image and narrative building, and value-based leadership. People aspiring to contest local elections, current party position holders, local elected representatives - rural/urban, and student politicians are encouraged to apply for this programme. Each Democracy Express is hosted in a different part of the country each year.

ISD has three main programmes focused on cultivating hard skills for public service, inner transformation, and creating a network of public leaders.

One of these programs is called "The Good Politician," a unique 9-month experiential programme for 30 emerging grassroots leaders. This programme aims to build political skills, create a community of future politicians, and develop moral courage and imagination for political change in India. It follows an executive model with three cycles of residentials (2 weeks each) interspersed with field time (3-4 months) in their own work areas. During field time, participants engage in political activities and attend weekly online sessions. The programme offers an interdisciplinary curriculum, a diverse faculty of academics and practitioners from various political backgrounds, and opportunities to immerse in different realities across the country through travel.
