Overview |
The Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project aims to achieve social and economic upliftment by reducing poverty through enabling the rural households to access self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities. The project is based on the four pillars of National Rural Livelihood Mission which include social mobilisation, financial inclusion, vulnerability reduction combined with livelihoods enhancement alongside providing a support structure which entails detailed strategic guidelines and operational procedures. The strategic guidelines have been formed with a participatory methodology which involved several consultations with district, state and national level team experts, government departments, the DRDAs, the civil societies, NGOs and research institutions for getting the feedback and incorporating in the document. The project plays a catalytic role in promoting development of micro-finance and agribusiness sectors. Additionally, it helps in developing organisations to assist and enable the rural population to access and better negotiate services, credit and assets from public and private sector agencies and financial institutions. |
