Reducing Future Risk Programme
SEEDS works with both communities that are exposed to disasters each year and those which do not face them too frequently. It conducts assessments, plans and trains to reduce the magnitude of damage.
SEEDS believes that disasters cannot be seen in isolation, but come with multiple dimensions and issues and thus, proposes solutions and workarounds to face the risks. It promotes working with nature to avert climate change impacts and adapt to nature-based solutions to manage financial risks effectively.
-
Humanitarian Response Programme
SEEDS helps in the case of disaster by taking immediate rehabilitation steps, It sets up emergency tents, helps in the recovery of household items and supplies them with kits of essential supplies, cleans and repairs water sources and erects temporary structures to act as learning centres to stand for damaged school structures. It also initiates mobile medical units to travel to remote parts of the ravaged region and provides immediate healthcare assistance.
-
Building Back Better Programme
When disaster strikes it usually causes a lot of damage to homes and community infrastructure. SEEDS initiates rehabilitation by rebuilding these structures through the use of the latest techniques so that they are not only restored but are able to withstand future calamities also. It includes the use of environmentally friendly and locally obtained materials to keep the programme sustainable.
The programme additionally imparts training to construction workers on safe construction practices. School safety and community preparedness are also part of training efforts along with awareness of safe water, sanitation and hygiene. SEEDS also partners with Government agencies to include reconstruction planning in their processes.
