Pracheen Kala Kendra, established in 1956, is a prominent institution dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and dissemination of Indian Classical Read morearts. This organisation, following the ancient Gurukul parampara, provides high-quality education and training in Indian Classical Music (including Carnatic Music), Classical Dances (such as Kathak, Bharatnatyam, and Odissi Dance), Fine Arts (Painting), and conducts examinations in performing and visual arts for over six decades. With its cultural headquarters in Chandigarh and extensive administrative presence in Mohali, Pracheen Kala Kendra boasts a vast network of about 3800 affiliated centres worldwide. It accommodates students from various countries, making it one of the largest organisations of its kind today. The Kendra is committed to granting access to classical arts to learners of all ages, backgrounds, and regions while upholding the core values of Indian philosophy and spirituality. In addition to its educational mission, Pracheen Kala Kendra actively engages in cultural activities. It organises classical music and dance festivals not only in Chandigarh but also in collaboration with its affiliated centres and with the support of local and state Government cultural bodies across India. Programs

  • Examination Services

    Pracheen Kala Kendra conducts examinations in Indian Classical Music (vocal & instrumental), Classical Dances, and Fine Arts (Painting) twice a year, including Annual and Bi-Annual sessions. These examinations cover a wide range of subjects and award certificates and diplomas to successful candidates. The courses are meticulously designed in collaboration with experts to meet academic and professional standards, emphasizing methodical learning. With a robust infrastructure, the Kendra ensures well-organised examinations held at designated centres across India and abroad, attracting approximately three lakh students each year. This comprehensive examination system contributes to the promotion and preservation of Indian classical arts.

  • Training & Hobby Classes Programme

    Pracheen Kala Kendra offers regular training and hobby classes in Music, Dance, Fine Arts (Painting), and Gurmat Sangeet for children, providing them with exposure to India's classical arts. Experienced teachers and artists in their respective fields provide instruction to children and other interested learners. The programme not only introduces learners to these art forms but also encourages them to pursue in-depth training, preparing them for the Kendra's annual examinations. This initiative aims to foster a love for classical arts among young enthusiasts.

  • Training Programme for Specially Abled & Underprivileged Children

    Pracheen Kala Kendra demonstrates a strong commitment to the education, training, recreation, and holistic development of physically handicapped, impoverished, and underprivileged children, a significant segment of society. The Kendra places considerable effort into enhancing their well-being, offering relief and recreational opportunities.     Pracheen Kala Kendra recognizes the pivotal role of a library in supporting educational endeavours worldwide. To facilitate learning, the Kendra maintains an expansive library that provides students with open access to a wide array of textbooks, reference materials, journals, magazines, periodicals, and research reports covering classical and folk music, dance, and Fine Arts. The library continually updates its collection with authoritative and rare publications authored by renowned scholars, ensuring that students have valuable resources for their studies.

  • Audio - Video Archive Facility

    Pracheen Kala Kendra boasts a remarkable Audio-Video Cell housing an extensive collection of audio and video recordings featuring outstanding live performances by renowned maestros of our era. These valuable resources are provided to students for practice (Riyaz) to help them achieve higher levels of excellence, guided by qualified Kendra instructors. It's important to note that this vast collection serves educational purposes rather than commercial gain. Furthermore, the Kendra has ambitious plans to establish a permanent foyer dedicated to the exhibition of musical instruments, encompassing both classical and folk varieties, with a special focus on regional folk instruments.
